Artist Statement:
'Riot' has an expression in shape of a gun and the streaks out of the muzzle are distinct screeches/cries. The purples stand for physical and symbolic assaults.
The effects of gun violence in America extend far beyond casualties. Gun violence shapes the lives of millions of Americans who witness it, know someone who was shot, or live in fear of the next shooting.  This artwork stares in the face, calling out the by-design diabolic nature of guns and crippling power it carries.
